Rev. Dr. Kenneth K. Tanaka is a scholar, author, translator and ordained Jōdo Shinshū minister. His articles and books include “Ocean: An Introduction to Jodo Shinshu Buddhism in America,” "The Dawn of Chinese Pure Land Buddhist Doctrine," and "Amerika Bukkyo" (American Buddhism).

Tanaka has been educated both in Japan and the U.S.A., and is one of the truly rare bi-cultural specialists and prolific writers on Pure Land Buddhism. He has served as president and member of several international academic Buddhist groups, and has won awards and recognition for his academic achievements.
